The Georgia Institute of Technology, established in 1888, is one of the

nation's preeminent engineering

schools.  The quality of the school's

staff and the nearly 15,000 students

is reflected in Georgia Tech's

consistent ratings in the national polls.

In 2000, U.S. News & World Report

ranked Georgia Tech eighth among the nation's public universities.  Among

Tech's top departments are the Schools

of engineering.  Tech faculty and staff have generated in excess of $100M per year in research awards since 1997.  Georgia Tech continues to expand its campus, having assembled a 14

acre site adjacent to Northyards to be home to a multiple-building campus.  Three of these buildings are already completed and a fourth is slated to start in the fall.

Coca-Cola's World Headquarters is adjacent to Northyards.  Arguably one

of the most recognizable names in the world, Coke has 4,500 employees at its headquarters.  The most visible building,

a 26-story tower, was completed in

1980 at a cost of $120M.  The complex includes a health club, complete with an aerobics room, racquetball courts, and jogging trail.

The Georgia World Congress Center, located in the heart of downtown

Atlanta, hosts a myriad of conventions, consumer/trade shows, and corporate events.  the 1,000,000 SF project is currently being expanded by an

additional 420,000 SF at a cost of

$220M.  The expansion will give the GWCC a majestic entrance on

Northside Drive, just south of Northyards.  This entrance will include covered drop-off points for shuttle buses and taxis.
